Aeons
Races

The core of all languages is a system called “basic” or “Aeonic”. It is a language handed down to mortals by the Aeons. It is believed to be a very simplified version of the language the Aeons use to speak to each other.

All 3 human languages are derived from basic, and so it is possible for then to achieve a very basic communication with each other without knowing each other's language. This communication is considered very inefficient and in modern times most humans are also trained to speak in basic so they can communicate with other races.

Magi

Perhaps the most elegant derivation of basic is Magi language “Drakonic”. The language was standardized by Serenity and 90% of all Mages speak the dialect“Imperial Drakonic”. The further one travels from Serenity (and the poorer the people become), the more dialects a person will encounter. Even before the waygates opened, most upper class Magi could read and speak in basic.

Legion

The legion language of “Krathic”, is considered blunt by some. The Legion never felt the need to embellish their language with many ways to say the same thing. “Krathic” is perhaps one of the hardest variations of basic to learn since it has so many dialects and is full of slang. Even Legion can have trouble understanding each other sometimes. What makes “Krathic” a mystery to all other races is that it is almost always coupled with the Legion sign and body language called “Flow”. Legion can speak volumes to each other, but use very few words. More than one foreign emissary has challenged or insulted a Legion soldier using his “flowspeak” without knowing it. Blasted ones have their own language called “deadspeak”, which is only spoken near the blasted lands. Prior to the opening of the waygates, very few Legion could speak basic.

Teknocrats

“Skyruic” is the language of the technocrats and is highly standardize. However technocrats are fond of slang, nicknames, and abbreviations. This makes it rather hard for foreigners to understand native speakers unless they also have a profound understanding of Teknocrat technology and culture. While “Skyruic” is not supposed to be difficult to learn, many complain it is impossible to understand a native speaker of the language since they talk so fast and abbreviate so much. Even when communicating in basic, other races complain teknocrats are hard to understand. Prior to the opening of the waygates, many teknocrats could speak basic. In modern times, Teknocrats are born fluent in the language.
