Unit History

When a team of Teknocrat scientists began working on matter compression technology, their initial experiments produced less than practical results. Instead of convincing one solid to hide inside another, the target solid was instead reduced to its most basic atomic elements, converted to energy, and then exploded about the room. Instead of calling the research a failure, the Technocrats decided the impressive destruction of the solid had a rather profound military application. If only they could find something to mount the device on. Exotek laboratories has just the right robot for the job. Militarized labor robots were strong enough to carry such a device and had the power supply capable of supporting the immense voltage required to initialize the reaction. Early opponents to the project theorized that such a fusion of technology would not be cost efficient. However after evaluating the psychological effect the device had on enemies, the project received additional support and was allowed to proceed to production. Exotek previously had some of the most popular models of heavy labor drones east of Innovation City. A military grade powerplant and some duratitan armor plating made these robots a crushing force on the battlefield. Slap on a rapid fire gatling laser and some precision targeting algorithms, and you got yourself a certified killing machine. Of course it never would have caught on with Exoteks terrible marketing strategy. They really aught to thank the Legion for the assault drone's success. Their terrified faces were the best advertisement Exotek ever had.
